In November 2018 and October 2019, Nanjing successively renewed its sister city agreement with Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei, and became a sister city with Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, and became the only one in the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in which General Secretary Xi Jinping twice Witness the cities that have signed sister-city agreements with capitals of countries along the “Belt and Road” and are included in the joint statement between countries. In 2020, Nanjing will continue to promote the implementation of the “two documents”, and actively help it contact the procurement channels of epidemic prevention materials, provide support for supplies which are in shortage, and carry out interactions.
On the evening of August 3, 2020, Hou Yanqi, the Chinese ambassador to Nepal, announced on social media that Nanjing had donated anti-epidemic supplies to Kathmandu, Nepal, and called for “Let us fight the epidemic side by side!”
Chinese Ambassador to Brunei Yu Hong attended the donation ceremony of Nanjing anti-epidemic supplies in Brunei and delivered a letter of condolences.
In September 2020, one of the important special events of the Nanjing Financial Conference—2020 Nanjing Construction of the “Belt and Road” Interchange Point, an important hub city of economic and trade cooperation matchmaking meeting was held. Brunei’s ambassador to China attended the conference online and spoke to promote Brunei’s investment environment.
