On the morning of October 28, Singapore and Nanjing concluded the inaugural Special Projects Cooperation Panel (SNCP) meeting in Nanjing. The meeting was co-chaired by Senior Minister of State for Health Dr.Koh Poh Koon and Nanjing Mayor Han Liming, when both sides made speeches. Han Liming had a prior meeting with Mr. Chua Teng Hoe, Consul General of Singapore in Shanghai. Attending the meeting were representatives of Singaporean government departments, and those counterparts as Shen Jianrong, Deputy Mayor of Nanjing, Wu Wei,Secretary-General of Nanjing Municipal Government, Bao Hongxin,Secretary-General of SNCP Nanjing Committee, Ding Aimin, Director of Nanjing Commerce Bureau, and officials from relevant municipal departments, districts and development zones.
Stronger Partnership in Major Projects
More efforts will be made to facilitate investment promotion, in particular, attracting leading technological and ecological enterprises to expand their business in Nanjing. Both sides will try to build Singapore Nanjing Eco Hi-tech Island into a world leading smart low-carbon island.
Further Collaborative Innovation
Focusing on the establishment of overseas collaborative innovation centers and the construction of international industrial cooperation zones, both sides will tap into each other’s strengths, to yield a positive result for both.
Increasing Cooperation in the Construction of Free Trade Zones
Learning from Singapore’s policy experience including investment, trade and the optimization of the business environment, Nanjing will explore the fields of policy innovation, customs clearance, international travels,financial support, and investment and trade cooperation.
Strengthening Cooperation in Industrial Development
Both sides will strengthen communication, deepen cooperation in various topics such as smart cities, education and health care,cultural tourism, and elderly care, accelerate exchanges, and seek greater cooperation.
Dr. Koh Poh Koon spoke highly of the progress made by Singapore-Nanjing cooperation. He said that Singapore and Nanjing have broad prospects for cooperation in industry, technology, ecology, and free trade zone development. On the way ahead, Singapore will continue to increase cooperation with Nanjing in multiple fields and key projects such as Sino-Singapore Nanjing Eco Hi-tech Island. It is hoped that both sides will give full play to their respective advantages, share opportunities for innovative cities, further deepen all-round cooperation in key areas, and continuously achieve mutual benefits.
