In April of this year, the China National Intellectual Property Administration issued a notice identifying the first batch of cities and regions for the construction of National Intellectual Property Protection Demonstration Zones. Nanjing was among the ten cities and regions selected nationwide.
By the end of 2022, Nanjing boasted the number of invention patents up to 120.75 per 10000 people, and the number of high-value invention patents up to 48.73 per 10000 people, ranking at the forefront in China and the effective number of invention patents in the city reached 113,788. Nanjing has successfully cultivated innovative industry clusters worth 700 billion and six 100 billion, including software and information services and smart grid, which were chosen as the first batch of national advanced manufacturing clusters. The city has risen to the 2nd place in the ranking of national innovative cities for its exceptional innovation capabilities and has held the 8th spot in the global research cities for four consecutive years.
To strengthen intellectual property protection, Nanjing has launched “five platforms” that include the development of a “one-stop” intellectual property protection platform, an intellectual property transaction deposition protection platform, a notary protection platform for trade secrets, and more. These efforts aim to build a “brick wall” for intellectual property protection.
