Another Honour for Nanjing! Nanjing, City of Literature, International City of Peace, is again hailed as one of “The PioneeringChinese Cities in Building Global Image”.
The 2nd Forum on Global Communication of Chinese Cities was held in Haikou recently. Themed on “Innovative City Narratives to Improve Global Image”, the forum has gathered together leaders from publicity departments of over 50 cities and experts from top think tanks, and created a platform for them to share opinions and give advice about how to enhance Chinese cities’ global communication capacity from a diversified perspective.
Recent years have seen a full upgrade in Nanjing’s global communication efficiency Hence Nanjing has been included in “The PioneeringChinese Cities in Building Global Image” two years running.
Nanjing, as a representative of the award-winning cities, shared its international communication experience in enriching the Chinese discourse and narrative system through three cases. Concretely, by holding the unveiling of “Sindberg” Statue and a themed exhibition in Denmark, Nanjing tells the story of anInternational City of Peace well; by introducing “Innovate and Inherit Craftsmanship for Revival of Intangible Cultural Heritage: Nanjing International Designers’ Residency Program”, Nanjing spreads Chinese culture in world languages; and by partnering foreign KOLs who knowand love China and have great influence, Nanjing is able to tell Chinese stories from a third-person point of view.
Looking ahead, Nanjing will continue to use its unique strength of peace to its fullest, enhance cultural exchanges and mutual learning, expand international relations and develop a multivariant communication matrix. It will also make ongoing efforts to enhance its capacity for engaging in international communication, protect the interests of the nation, and utilize the Nanjing platform to tell stories about China well, amplify China’s voice on the international stage, build up a Chinese discourse and narrative system, and increase the reach and appeal of Chinese civilization.
