Recently, Han Liming, Party Secretary of the CPC Nanjing Municipal Committee, met with Adam Tickell, the Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Birmingham, and Matt Burney, the British Consulate-General in Shanghai.

During their meeting, Han Liming invited the foreign guests to ascend the Ming City Wall at Taicheng section, where they were introduced to the conservation efforts for its World Heritage nomination, enjoyed the panoramic views of the city’s natural beauty and engaged in in-depth discussions at the Taicheng Study Room. She recalled her visit to the University of Birmingham during her delegation’s trip to the UK in April, which left a profound impression and led to the advancement of several cooperative projects. Han Liming expressed her hope that the University of Birmingham would leverage its strengths to solidify cooperation with relevant universities, institutes, and industrial parks in Nanjing, deepen and expand the scope of collaboration, and work together to build a bridge between China and the UK.

Adam Tickell and Matt Burney expressed their admiration for Nanjing’s rich history and culture, its beautiful natural and cultural landscapes, and the achievements in urban development and economic growth, making their visit unforgettable. They acknowledged Nanjing’s abundant resources in science, education, and industrial innovation and expressed their desire to further deepen cooperation and achieve mutual benefits in sectors such as healthcare, low-carbon environmental protection, culture and tourism.
