On the afternoon of october 31, 20 teams from Chinese and foreign-invested enterprises in Jiangsu gathered together as the 2020 Nanjing Soccer Carnival kicked off at Nanjing Youth Olympic Park.
Soccer, or football, is believed to be the world’s most popular sport. In his speech, Ding Aimin, Deputy Director of Promotion Office of Nanjing Urban Internationalization and Director of Nanjing Municipal Bureau of Commerce, said that he hoped that Nanjing could further create a better environment for business, industry and living by holding sport events like the Soccer Carnival and by optimizing the international business environment.
Since the outbreak of COVID-19, medical workers in Jiangsu have responded quickly and joined in Hubei’s fight against the virus. Their sacrifice and professionalism moved everyone. At the opening ceremony, one of the participating teams – Jiangsu Province Hospital on Integration of Chinese and Western Medicine received the donation of sports equipment for the medical workers’ efforts in the fight against COVID-19.
In the following two weeks, 20 teams will compete in 48 matches for the medals. Other awards will also be selected according to the performance of the teams including Best Goalscorer, Best Goalkeeper, Best Organizer, and Best Sportsmanship.
The 2020 Nanjing Soccer Carnival was guided by Promotion Office of Nanjing Urban Internationalization, and co-organized by Nanjing Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Foreign Affairs Office of Nanjing Municipal people’s Government, Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation, and European Chamber of Commerce, Nanjing Chapter.
