Burgeoning cross-border tourism shows Nanjing’s vitality in opening-up

The cross-border tourism market remains booming, although the summer vacation passed its midpoint. On August 2, according to the Nanjing Exit-Entry Frontier Inspection Station that during the first seven months of this year, over 1.615 million arrivals and departures and more than 11,300 flights were recorded, both surpassing the totals for all of 2023. Since July, the daily number of inbound and outbound passengers has come close to 10,000, reaching nearly 90% of the data for the same period in 2019.

As an ancient capital of six dynasties or ten regimes, Nanjing boasts rich natural landscapes and cultural resources. With the continued optimization of visa-free entry policies in China and the gradual recovery and increase of international flights, foreign travelers are flocking to the city. More and more international visitors arriving at Nanjing Lukou International Airport are heading to various attractions in Nanjing to experience Chinese culture and customs.

To ensure efficient and smooth customs clearance for travelers, Nanjing Exit-Entry Frontier Inspection Station has introduced a series of supportive measures. These include establishing dedicated areas and channels for 144-hour visa-free transit, adjusting border signage, installing front-end fingerprint collection devices, and assigning personnel to assist foreign visitors in filling out temporary entry card forms. These efforts aim to continuously optimize the entry process and provide maximum convenience for travelers.
