Located in the southwest of the major zone of Nanjing, Hexi New City Zone is a new urban center with five major functions: finance, business, commerce, exhibition, culture and sports. It is a mid-to-high-end residential area serves both residence and employment functions. It also provides leisure tour in the western part of the city featuring riverside features. It is a new city center where modern civilization and riverside characteristics complement each other and also a symbol area of modern and international new Nanjing.

The CBD of Hexi has gathered 340 financial and quasi-financial institutions of various types, including 90 banking financial institutions, 27 securities financial institutions, 35 insurance financial institutions, and 88 various quasi-financial institutions. There are 23 corporate financial institutions at the headquarters, including 4 banks, 3 insurance companies, 3 securities and futures companies, and 3 other financial institutions. The number of financial corporate headquarters and foreign-funded institutions accounted for 2/3 of the city. The CBD was awarded the titles of “Jiangsu Province Financial Reform and Innovation Pilot Zone” and “Nanjing City Internet Finance Demonstration Zone”.
