Located in the northeast of Nanjing, Nanjing Economic and Technological Development Zone was established on September 18, 1992 . As of the end of 2017, the development zone covers an area of 200 square kilometers, with 4 functional areas including industry, bonded warehousing, finance and trade and comprehensive services. It was approved as a provincial development zone by the Jiangsu Provincial Government in November 1993. Then it was upgraded to a national economic and technological development zone by the State Council on March 15, 2002. On March 10, 2003, the State Council approved the establishment of a national-level Nanjing Export Processing Zone in the development zone.
