He joined Fujitsu in 1984 to work for software development. In 2017, he served as the vice chairman and general manager of Fujitsu Nanda Software Technology Co., Ltd. (FNST)
Before Mr. Nagakura Hiroshi’s expatriation, he’s keen on Chinese culture, whose elements such as Chinese characters, Confucianism, architecture and traditional Chinese medicine had a profound impact on the development of Japanese culture. Mr. Nagakura Hiroshi was unfamiliar with this city and realized his fate with Nanjing only after his arrival.
Mr. Nagakura Hiroshi was born in Kobe, Japan. When Sun Yat-sen visited Kobe, he received great welcome from local overseas Chinese and supporters. The Museum of Dr. Sun Yat-sen now still stands beside the Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge. Besides, Kobe is home to a food street called “Nanjing Town”, gathering a great number of Chinese restaurants known for Beijing roasted duck, Cantonese cuisine, Sichuan cuisine. In Kobe, Nanjing is a synonym for China.
Mr. Nagakura Hiroshi has been engaged in the software industry for over 30 years. He believes that people is the foundation of the software industry. Based on this philosophy, Fujitsu and Nanjing University established a joint venture in 1999, namely, Fujitsu Nanda Software Technology Co., Ltd. (FNST).
Each year, the company reserves no less than RMB 6 Million of education fund for the development of technical and management skills, Japanese and English language learning. Moreover, over a dozen of key employees participate in a six-month technical and management training in Japan headquarter, which is not only conducive to raising the technical level of employees, but also boosts the communication between Chinese and Japanese professionals.
On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the School of Computer Science, Nanjing University in 2019, General Manager Mr. Nagakura Hiroshi, donated over one million to the Nanjing University Education Development Foundation on behalf of the company to support educational research.
In the information age, software plays an increasingly significant role in various industries. Software development is the source of creating added value. Nanjing, as a city with profound historical and cultural heritages, will have its charms re-evaluated.
“This area has been named as ‘Software Valley’ and ‘Software Avenue’ by the Yuhuatai District Government, showing a strong determination to build it into a software industry cluster.””A software valley gathering plenty of software technical professionals really appeals to software development companies like us,” said Mr. Nagakura Hiroshi.
“When the first phase of building started construction in 2009, the surrounding area was still barren. Now, Yuhuatai Software Valley is known as China’s first software industry base, China’s first software industry base with over 100 billion, and one of national demonstration bases of new industrialization (software and information services). A number of well-known software enterprises at home and abroad, such as IBM, Dell, ZTE and Huawei, have made their presence here. I think Fujitsu Nanda Software Technology Co., Ltd. (FNST) is making a right decision to settle here, because it is an international software industry cluster.”
The development of regional industries requires not only top-level design and planning, but also pragmatic service attitude. The pandemic has undoubtedly been severely impacted on industries such as software that require face-to-face communication.
Mr. Nagakura Hiroshi said, “I am impressed by China’s tenacity in epidemic control and the remarkable results. To achieve the resumption of work and production as soon as possible, Nanjing Municipal Government develops strict epidemic prevention and control measures and provides guidance for the resumption of work in detail, enabling more than 90% of our employees to resume work normally by the end of February. Thanks to the concerted efforts of our employees, we successfully got through the hardest time, and all of our development projects are not delayed due to the epidemic. I believe that our business performance of this year will surely surpass the targets set at the beginning, and I’d like to express my sincere thanks to the government for its support.”
