“There is great prospect here.” Said John Rowland, who acts as CEO of Nanjing Blue Ocean Smart System on January 17, 2019 and formally established in Jiangbei New District.
The American CEO who was attracted by Jiangbei New Area has an excellent personal resume. After obtaining a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Virginia Tech, John entered Ericsson and started his career. Since then, John has successively entered well-known companies in the wireless communications and semiconductor industries to engage in research and development.
From 2011 to 2018, John served as the head of the hardware platform team, hardware customer service team, RFIC development team, and IC packaging/code team team at Spreadtrum Communications. During this ten years, Spreadtrum has developed rapidly, and John’s team has gradually grown, with 500 engineers in more than ten cities in the United States, India, South Korea and China. After coming to Nanjing, John quickly fell in love with this city with a long history and rich cultural heritage.
“No matter where you come from, there is something worth learning here.” After the idea of taking root in Nanjing, John chose the Jiangbei New Area with complete infrastructure and a strong atmosphere of science and technology. In addition to projects with suitable engineers, the natural and cultural environment in Jiangbei also impressed John, “It is very suitable for people to live and work here.”
For now, John Rowland is mainly responsible for the product development, as well as the control and guidance of the research and development process of Blue Ocean.
