It was a great honor to have Dan Schechtman, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry (2011), speak at the event. He expressed his strong belief in Nanjing’s capacity to foster the future development of technology-driven industries. Schechtman highlighted the city’s robust academic institutions and thriving tech ecosystem, positioning Nanjing as an ideal global center for innovation with a vibrant R&D infrastructure.

Hermann Simon, renowned as the Father of “Hidden Champions” in Germany, also shared his impression of Nanjing, praising the city’s emphasis on integrating science and market innovation. He noted that Nanjing’s diverse industrial base, driven by three key factors—digitalization, ecosystem development, and sustainability—has laid a solid foundation for long-term growth and competitiveness.

A prime example of Nanjing’s thriving industrial ecosystem is the BASF Nanjing site, a wholly-owned production facility specializing in water-treatment monomers, amine products, and coating additives. Lou Jianfeng, Chairman and CEO of BASF Greater China, highlighted Nanjing’s strong industrial foundation, rich educational and scientific resources, favorable business environment, and well-developed industrial ecosystem as key drivers of the company’s stable growth and sustainable development in China.

With a foundation built on innovation, Nanjing welcomes the world to join in shaping a prosperous tomorrow. Investing in Nanjing is investing in a globally connected future.
