Expats accepted at all hotels in China

Attention, globetrotters! The Chinese government has taken a bold step to ensure your stay in the Middle Kingdom is as smooth as possible. No more being turned away at hotels for lack of “foreign guest qualifications” or facing clueless staff who don’t know how to register you in their systems. In a recently published announcement by the State Council (check at the bottom of this article), several new policies are rolling out to enhance China’s hospitality sector (even in the most rural of places!).

In response to a flurry of complaints from travelers from Nigeria, the UK, Pakistan and other countries, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Commerce and the National Immigration Administration have teamed up to tackle this issue head-on. The message is clear: Hotels must welcome foreign guests with open arms, regardless of location or type.

Quick Summary on Several Enhancements for China’s Hospitality Sector:

Improved Services: Hotels are being coached to upgrade their foreign guest services. This includes better training for staff to enhance their hospitality skills.

Legal Framework: The Ministry of Commerce has even issued a guide to help hotels better understand the legalities and improve their operations.

Language Support: Online platforms will soon offer free English training courses for hotel staff, covering everything from check-in to room booking, making communication smoother.

Registration Simplified: The Ministry of Public Security is streamlining the foreign guest registration process, making it easier and faster.

So, next time you’re checking into a Chinese hotel, expect fewer hassles and more hospitality. The government is committed to making your stay in China as pleasant as possible.
